Shawn O.

Shawn is originally from North Carolina, and moved to Kentucky in 2004 to attend Midway College—quickly falling in love with the area and deciding to make it home. Growing up on a farm surrounded by horses, dogs, and cats, and with a mother who worked as a veterinary technician, she developed a deep-rooted passion for animal care at an early age. She began her career in veterinary medicine working as an assistant alongside Dr. Banks at a clinic in Nicholasville and is excited to now be reunited and working together again. Over the years, she has gained valuable experience at the Lexington Humane Society and most recently spent two years working as an Equine veterinary technician. She is thrilled to continue growing in her role as a veterinary assistant. One of the things she loves most about her work is the opportunity to show compassion not only to animals, but also to their owners. She strives to make every animal feel cared for as if they were her own, while ensuring clients feel heard, supported, and appreciated. At home, she has an adventurous cat named Nimbus who enjoys going on walks outside, with future plans of hiking together. She also has a sweet retired Paint horse named Rummy, whom she loves taking on relaxing bareback trail rides. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys running, practicing yoga, riding her horse, and volunteering at church.
